Large Lincoln factory site changes hands
HODGSON ELKINGTON, the Lincoln based chartered surveyors have reported the successful letting of one of the city’s larger landmark buildings, a move which is likely to create the prospect of new jobs. This follows the signing of a lease with Allied Bakeries Limited, part of the ABF Group, which has a turnover in excess of £8 billion.
The 54,000 sq ft building occupying a 2-acre site at the corner of Doddington Road and Exchange Road was originally built by the Simons Construction Group in the 1980s. For over 25 years it was home to Smiths Crisps, which later became Walkers Crisps.
Hodgson Elkington partner, Daniel Race said, “This is one of Lincoln’s largest warehouse buildings. We have been working with Allied Bakeries and the parent company, Associated British Foods Plc, on the deal for some time. It is good to see that works will shortly be commencing and that the building will then be reoccupied”.
Now there will be a £0.5 million refurbishment of the building before Allied Bakeries move in. On the vacation of Walkers Crisps Hodgson Elkington were instructed by Threadneedle Property Investments Limited and Allied Bakeries were identified as a tenant.
